Request an Otto account

To become a Otto partner, Otto has some  requirements: you have to
  • have an own online webshop already
  • offer at least 1000 products
  • be able to structure your products in a 3-level hierarchy (ChannelEngine can help you with that, see below)
  • ship your products with Hermes or DHL
  • have experience and process knowledge with other market places
  • have a VAT ID in the EU-country you ship to customers from

If you meet these requirements, you can request an account  here

Otto's delivery models

You can connect to Otto in two ways: Direktversand and Integrationsmodell (INT).

  • Direktversand One Stop Shopping (DOSS) is like other channels: you send orders on Otto of your products directly to the customer. Note you'll have to use either Hermes or DHL as carrier.
  • Integrationsmodell (INT) is the cross-docking model: you send the products to Otto and Otto will ship the orders.

You can discuss with Otto which model suits you the best. Otto will also indicate to you when they plan to setup and accept your export files from ChannelEngine. In busy times, this may be 1-2 months in the future.

Setup Otto in ChannelEngine: Direktversand

If you choose the Direktversand-model, contact sales to add the Otto Direktversand (DOSS) channel.

Under Setup,

  • Enter your vendor code (or Lieferantenkennziffer, LKZ)
  • Enter the sFTP account host, username and password

Then make a listing, map the categories and the products as usual.

Under mapping,

  • In the Carrier mapping tab, set which carrier you want to use: Hermes and DHL. Note ChannelEngine will use DHL if you set nothing.

Finally, activate the plugin according to the schedule you've agreed upon with Otto.

Setup Otto in ChannelEngine: Integrationsmodell

If you choose the Integrationsmodell, contact sales to add the Otto Integrationsmodell (INT) channel.

Under Setup,

  • Enter your vendor code (or Lieferantenkennziffer, LKZ)
  • Enter the sFTP account host, username and password

Then make a listing, map the categories and the products as usual.

Finally, activate the plugin according to the schedule you've agreed upon with Otto.

Product hierarchy

Some marketplaces require a parent-child product hierarchy, but Otto is unusual in requiring a three level hierarchy for your products:

Otto ChannelEngine
Style Grandparent
Item Parent
SKU Child

So besides a parent product, Otto requires an extra level of 'grandparent' products. You will receive documentation from Otto with specifications.
The meaning of these levels:
  • Style/grandparent: the product model
  • Item/parent: color
  • SKU/child: size

For some products, the parents have to be a combination of color and an overarching size:

Jeans:
  • Style/grandparent: model, e.g. My Jeans 501
  • Item/parent: color plus length, e.g. My Jeans 501 blue L32
  • SKU/child: breedtemaat, e.g. My Jeans 501 blue L32W31

Bras

  • Style/grandparent: model, e.g. My Bra
  • Item/parent: color and cup size, e.g. My Bra black cup B
  • SKU/child: chest size, e.g. My Bra black cup B 70

How to get (grand)parent products in ChannelEngine

You can map parent and grandparent products in the product feed mapping. If you don't have seperate products for parents or grandparents, ChannelEngine can generate them for you. See more on the article about  the product feed.

Product content mapping

  • Number of parts: 1 by default
  • Delivery time in days: your delivery time to Otto. For Integrationsmodell, Otto will add extra days for their delivery time. 3 by default
  • Size: the imported product’s size is the default.
  • Virtual size 1-3: alternative value of size for filtering, size=S, virtual size = 46
